Time Required: 1 Minute, 5 Minutes, 10 Minutes, 15 Minutes

Notes: Although Windows does not share any main part of the hard drive, there are special folders that are shared by default. This is a quick way to disable sharing them.

Warnings: This is dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. I do not take responsibility for anything that you do to your computer that harms it or any files on it in any way.

How to do it:

  • Open Explorer (navigate to Start > Run and click on Run. At the prompt, type in "Explorer" and press enter.)
  • In the menu at the top, click on Tools and then click on "Folder Options".
  • Click on the "View" tab.
  • At the end of the list, you will find text that says "Use simple file sharing (recommended)" (It's under the Advanced Settings catagory).
  • Uncheck the box next to "Use simple file sharing (recommended)".
  • Click OK.
