Disable Windows compressed (zip) files

Time Required: 1 Minute, 5 Minutes, 10 Minutes, 15 Minutes

Notes: If you want to install a third party zip file handler, this is a nice way to disable Windows' default system.

Warnings: This is dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. I do not take responsibility for anything that you do to your computer that harms it or any files on it in any way.

How to do it:

  • Navigate to Start > Run (Click on run).
  • In the input field, enter "Regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll"
  • Note: If you want to re-enable this at a later time, put "Regsvr32 zipfldr.dll" in the input field instead.
